Holiday & Permanent Lighting in The Meadows, Castle Rock

The Meadows is one of Castle Rock's largest master-planned communities, and we're proud to serve homeowners here every season. Whether you're looking for a classic holiday display or a year-round permanent lighting system, here's everything you need to know about The Meadows HOA and Castle Rock town regulations before you book.

HOA Lighting Rules

HOA & Town Requirements for Lighting in The Meadows

Approval Process

Lighting in The Meadows is governed by two layers of rules: the Meadows Association Design Review Committee (DRC) and the Town of Castle Rock's ordinances. Any permanent exterior modification — including permanent roofline lighting systems like Watts Lights, Jellyfish, or Gemstone — must be submitted to the Meadows Association DRC for approval before installation. We recommend getting written DRC approval before scheduling your installation. We can help you prepare a complete submission package including product photos, spec sheets, and sample approval language.

Town of Castle Rock Light Ordinance

In addition to HOA rules, Castle Rock town ordinances apply to all exterior lighting. Your installation must comply with the following: no flashing, blinking, or varying intensity (lights must remain steady — this applies to permanent programmable systems too); no light trespass onto neighboring properties; full cut-off / fully shielded fixtures pointing downward and emitting no light above a 90-degree angle; and concealed wiring with no fixture hardware visible from the street or neighboring homes. Our Watts Lights installations are designed to meet all of these requirements — the low-profile aluminum track mounts flush to your fascia, wiring is fully concealed, and the system directs light downward along the roofline with no upward scatter.

Holiday Lighting (Programmable / Color-Changing Systems)

Permanent programmable systems that change color are popular in Castle Rock — but The Meadows has specific expectations around how and when they're used. Holiday colors (reds, greens, multi-color displays) are generally acceptable during the holiday season, typically November 15 through January 15. Outside of holiday periods, lights should display in white or neutral accent tones only. The current HOA stance on color-changing systems has evolved — confirm the DRC's current position before installation, as this has been an active topic in the community. This is exactly how Watts Lights is designed to be used: warm white architectural lighting year-round, with full holiday color capability during the appropriate seasons.

Seasonal Holiday Lighting

Traditional temporary holiday lights — clips, strands, C7/C9 bulbs installed for the season — are permitted without DRC pre-approval. Lights must be tasteful and in keeping with the neighborhood's character. We handle full installation, maintenance, and removal for the season. No ladders, no hassle, and no HOA headaches.

Why It Makes Sense

Why Permanent Lighting Makes Sense in The Meadows

Every Castle Rock Christmas Lights installation in The Meadows is built to meet HOA and town requirements: fully shielded, downward-directed light output compliant with Castle Rock's full cut-off ordinance; concealed wiring and hardware with nothing visible from the street; steady light mode standard with no flashing or blinking in our default configurations; color scheduling built in to automatically switch to neutral white outside of holiday windows; and complete DRC documentation — product specs, photos, installation diagrams, and sample letter language. A note on permanent lighting: The Meadows DRC has historically scrutinized concealed accent lighting systems, so we recommend getting written approval before installation. We'll help you put together a strong application — and if you're only looking for seasonal lighting this year, we can start there with zero approval needed.

Why It Fits

Why The Meadows Homes Benefit from Permanent Lighting

The Meadows is one of Castle Rock's most family-oriented neighborhoods, with a strong tradition of seasonal displays — holiday drives, neighborhood light tours, and active community events. The mix of ranch-style and two-story homes (many with mountain views worth lighting up) makes permanent lighting a natural fit. Be ready for every holiday from October to July without renting ladders, untangling strings, or missing your turn on the neighborhood light tour.

Weather Considerations in The Meadows

At ~6,300 ft, The Meadows experiences classic Castle Rock weather — heavy spring snowstorms, summer hail, and dry winter winds. Our installations use commercial-grade fasteners rated for hail impact and high-wind events, and every connection is sealed against snowmelt infiltration.
