The Meadows DRC has historically scrutinized concealed accent lighting and at one point required removal. As of the latest CC&Rs, permanent exterior lighting still requires DRC approval before installation. Castle Rock town ordinances also apply: lights must be steady (no flashing), fully shielded/downward-directed (full cut-off), no light trespass to neighbors, and wiring must be concealed. Holiday color modes are generally acceptable Nov 15 – Jan 15; outside that window lights should display in white or neutral tones. Confirm the DRC's current position before installation.
Does Castle Rock have a town light ordinance?
Yes. The Town of Castle Rock requires all exterior lighting to be steady (no flashing, blinking, or varying intensity), produce no light trespass onto neighboring properties, use full cut-off / fully shielded fixtures pointing downward (no light above 90 degrees), and have concealed wiring and hardware.
